Nobody wants their Macbook to get damaged. But nobody wants to cover up the fine finish of their Macbook either. The Vectros by Thule provides drop protection in the form of a surrounding bumper while leaving most of the surface open. This reveal acts as a frame to allow the Macbook to shine.
Inspired by Materials
What does protection mean? Is it rigidity, deflection, absorption, or something else entirely? We started our journey by exploring different materials and possible combinations that offered the most protection, regardless of how.
Fostered with Brain-sketching
Brain-sketching proved to be a useful exercise. By sketching our initial thoughts solo, we could dump our brains onto paper. Once emptied, the team collaborated on each idea. We combined, destroyed, and rebuilt until a clear path was found.

The key to realization, as with any product, is prototyping. We produced rough 3D prints and high quality, material accurate, castings to test out our ideas to the fullest extent of our capabilities.
